What..? We operate a number of layouts, owned by the club and individual members and built to exhibition standards, principally in 4mm (OO / EM) scales. Layouts are exhibited at model railway exhibitions, not only in the North West but across the country. Previous destinations have included London, Bristol and the Midlands.
Additionally we are responsible for organising and staging the long established annual Wigan Model Railway Exhibition, the largest and best of its kind in the North West, attracting over 3500 visitors each year with quality layouts and excellent trade support.
When..? With the unfortunate demise of Wigan & District MRS (closing after 39 years due to loss of clubrooms) a group of former members decided to create a new society. Hence in March 2006 Wigan Finescale Railway Modellers came into being.
Where..? We have recently secured more permenant accommodation within the John Eddleston Centre in Billinge. This will enable us to work on at least one project probably 'Millport Victoria' in some comfort.
Why..? Wigan Finescale Railway Modellers offers opportunities to broaden and improve modelling skills, increase knowledge of railways and their operation, meet people and form lasting friendships and be involved with the best model railway exhibition in the North West.
